FAQs

How does the Whiskey Bidders online auction work?
Individual sellers deliver/ ship their bottles that they wish to sell to our office in Mullingar. Once they have been checked by our experienced team, professional photographs are taken and the bottles are listed on the website in the next available auction. We plan to have an auction each month, during which registered users from all over the world can bid on our site online. The highest bidder for each lot at the close of the auction is then notified by email and asked for payment within 3 days. The seller then receives payment within 21 working days of the end of the auction.

When and how do I get paid for my sold lot(s)?
Sellers are paid within 21 business days from the end of an auction, however, payment is only completed if the buyer has paid us.
Payment is made by direct bank transfer and can take a few days to show in your account. Any banking charges or exchange rates are paid for by the seller.
What happens if my item does not meet the reserve price I set?
Please refer to our section about reserves in our seller's guide.
Can you ship internationally?
Yes. We can ship to many places. For a full list of countries we can ship to please see our shipping section, where you can also find information on shipping costs per country and any restrictions.
Can I insure my bottles?
Most courier companies will not cover alcohol or glass on their insurance policies. We can offer Loss & Breakage assurance for your bought items at a cost of 3% of the total hammer price and commission.

If you would like to add Loss & Breakage to your order this is selected at the checkout stage. From our experience, once the bottles are well-packaged and you use a reliable courier service then there are thankfully an extremely low number of breakages to deal with.
